These people are not new people like the assignment called for but they are both well connected and great sources of networking.
How will including this person in your network enhance your ability to exploit an opportunity?
Including both of these people in my network will greatly improve my odds of starting a new business. Knowing an IT person that is very high up the chain will help teach me things that I am still new to in this field. Also, knowing someone with cash ready to invest and with thousands of local business contacts will help spread the word about my business allowing me to expand faster than many other small companies.

ReplyDeleteI think the head of IT at CUNY is definitely a domain expert in your field and a vital contact to your network. Being able to learn and leverage the information and experiences should prove beneficial for you. The investor also likely has significant market experience, however depending on your relationship, could be potentially skewed in recommendations to you based on profit. Were you able to find a supplier?

ReplyDeleteThank you for your post. I think that this post would have been more thorough if you were able to find and interview an industry supplier. However, all of the other people that you have interviewed for this assignment seemed to be experienced and well acquainted in their field of expertise such that you really did not need to interview another person.
Matt, thank you for your post. Like you, I found it difficult to find people in the industry that applied to my business idea. A tool I used was LinkedIn. It was very helpful because you have the opportunity to connect with people that you otherwise would not be able to cross paths with. Keep up the good work, it looks like you are off to a solid start in networking.
